The bottom line:
Have you ever been to a fortune teller or called a number that promised to tell you the future?
People like to know what is going to happen, before “it” happens.
Jesus talked to His disciples about how we should view the future.
In Luke 12:16-21, Jesus said no one knows when they will die. And for this reason, He said the following about worrying.
“… ‘Do not worry about your life, as to what you will eat; nor for your body, as to what you will put on. For life is more than food, and the body more than clothing.”
Luke 12:22-23 NASB
The bottom line: Do not worry about the future!
Jesus went on to talk about the ravens being fed by God. Luke 12:24
The bottom line: You are more valuable than the birds to God.
Then Jesus said that no one can add a single hour to their life.
Luke 12:25-26
The bottom line: You have no control how or when you will die – don’t worry about – anything.
Jesus then talked about the flowers of the field being gloriously clothed, even finer than King Solomon in all his finery. Luke 12:27
The bottom line: Flowers don’t work at how they look – yet they are beautifully made.
And Jesus continued along that line of thought – if grass is so clothed by God, yet is used for fuel after it dies, how much more will you be taken care of by God? Luke 12:28-29
The bottom line: Worry is having little faith in God – Stop Worrying!
What else did Jesus say? He talked about the nations eagerly seeking clothing and food, people who are without God in their lives. Luke 12:30
The bottom line: “…but your Father knows that you need these things.”
Then Jesus said what we are to do: seek God the Father’s kingdom.
Luke 12:31
The bottom line: Seek God first and everything you need will be added to you.
What was Jesus’ conclusion? “Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father has chosen gladly to give you the kingdom.” Luke 12:32
The bottom line: No fear! Do not worry! Seek God!
