Healing – despite enemies
Do you know of someone who is “getting the job done” despite their enemies and the attacks against them?
That person(s) is in elite company… the Lord Jesus also faced opposition, out to “get Him”.
One Sabbath day, Jesus entered a synagogue and a man with a useless hand was there. The religious leaders were focused on Jesus. What would He do? They were ready to pounce, to denounce and destroy the Lord Jesus. Mark 3:1-2
Jesus said to the man with the useless hand, “Get up and come forward!” Then the Lord Jesus said to the religious leaders, “Is it lawful to do good or to do harm on the Sabbath, to save a life or to kill?” Mark 3:4 Those religious leaders said not a word, not a peep!
Jesus then looked around at them – with anger! Jesus was not angry that they were out to “get Him”, He was angry because… their hearts were hard. They were more interested in “getting Him” than that this man could be healed. They were religious leaders in name only, not by practicing faith in the living God.
Hatred of God makes people do many ill-advised things.
People who hate are controlled by hatred.
What did Jesus say or do next? He did not let the hatred of men keep Him from doing good.
“He said to the man, ‘Stretch out your hand.’ And he stretched it out, and his hand was restored.” Mark 3:5
~ Take it to heart ~
Are you doing what the Lord Jesus has called you to do, despite people who show you disdain and wanting you to be gone from your position in life?
Hangeth in there, you are in elite company.
“Whatever you do, do your work heartily, as for the Lord rather than for men.”
NASB Colossians 3:23
