When you have good news to share, don’t you just have to tell someone?!  You are in a hurry to do that, aren’t you?  If you have a cell phone… you are on it!  If you have a computer… you use it to spread the news you want to share.

Shepherds, minding their own business in the darkness of the night, heard Good News! and they just had to find out for themselves that it was true.

They hurried to the city of Bethlehem to verify what they heard from an angel.  They found the mother, Mary and Joseph, and the baby lying in a manger in a stable of all places, just as the angel said.  They saw the baby, wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger, a feeding trough for animals.  Just as they were told. Luke 2:15-16

How do you and I approach God’s words to us?  Do we eagerly and with anticipation see for ourselves that God’s word is true?

The shepherds did not keep this great good news to themselves.  They told everyone who would listen to them.  They told what they heard, what they saw and then they told what the angel said to them.  They were witnesses of the birth of Jesus, the only begotten Son of God.

(NASB) Luke 2:10-11 “… I bring you good news of great joy which will be for all the people;
11 for today in the city of David (Bethlehem) there has been born for you a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.”

God’s word tells us we need a Savior, we need God’s righteousness through faith in His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ.  Romans 3:22
(NASB) Romans 3:23 “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”

The shepherds told everyone who would listen!
After you asked Jesus to save you from your sins, who did you tell?

It is amazing that God sent His messengers, the angels, to shepherds.  Men who were a “nothing” in that culture.  God told them of His Son being born.  God selected wisely whom He chose first to hear, to get His birth announcement.

Be like the shepherds, tell others you know Jesus!  You don’t just know about Jesus, you know Jesus as your Savior.
Be in a hurry — to tell others the great Good News! God has for them.

~ Take it to heart ~

(NASB) John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.”

Be like the shepherds, “… they came in a hurry…”
