How did the living God of the Holy Bible show His love for you and me?
NASB Romans 5:8 “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”
God’s love demonstrated for you and me – “Christ died for us.”
God the Father watched His Son nailed to a cross – that was God’s love for you and me in action. And that was while we were still sinners, without a Savior!
Then, God the Father turned His back on His only begotten Son, the Lord Jesus… for three dark hours. Why? Because your sins and mine became His sins. And the holy God cannot look on sin. He is perfect and holy and pure. He is holy, holy, holy. Did He still love His Son – ?
Yes, He did.
Yet, because of our sins, Jesus knew the loss of His Father’s face. He cried from the cross: “ELI, ELI, LAMA SABACHTHANI… that is MY GOD, MY GOD, WHY HAVE YOU FORSAKEN ME?” — because of my sins, and yours!
