But love…

“Hatred stirs up strife
But love covers all transgressions.”
NASB Proverbs 10:12

“Hatred stirs up strife…”  Can you think of some people whose faces are ugly with hatred, resentment, anger?  I can. 

But what does God say? “But love covers all transgressions.”

Even the hatred of those stirring strife, spewing hatred?
God says, “But love covers all transgressions.”

Think about this statement, one word at a time.
LOVE covers all transgressions.
Love COVERS all transgressions.
Love covers ALL transgressions.
Love covers all TRANSGRESSIONS.

Hatred toward a perceived or declared enemy will stir up strife, anger, war.  Smoldering anger bursts into flames and violent actions are fueled by hatred.

Bottom line: What God says…
“But love covers all transgressions.”

This means I need to change my thoughts, actions, words toward those who spew hatred aimed at me.  I am to choose to love them.

I am not God.  I am to watch God at work.  My work is to love… who knows, that person who is hate-filled may see their need of Jesus, His love, His forgiveness, His mercy toward and for them.
