“Someone” is pointed at – for doing “something” you are doing BUT they weren’t authorized to do “it”.  The “someone’s” are easy targets.  No name, no face, yet they exist.

John was a disciple of Jesus and he ratted out on a “someone” to Jesus.  That “someone” was doing what Jesus authorized the 12 disciples to do… but that “someone” was not even associated with the people that followed Jesus.  How dare that “someone”!  Luke 9:49

Why was John upset?  That “someone” used Jesus’ name to deliver others from the power of demons!  It just wasn’t right!  That “someone” was not part of the group that followed Jesus.

“Listen” to the self-importance of John…
NASB Luke 9:49 “… and we tried to prevent him because he does not follow along with us.”

Are you in an exclusive clique that snubs God at work through other believers?   John was.

What would Jesus say about squabbling among believers in different churches, different denominations?

What did Jesus say to John?
NASB Luke 9:50 “But Jesus said to him, ‘Do not hinder him; for he who is not against you is for you.”

NASB Mark 9:39-40 “But Jesus said, ‘Do not hinder him, for there is no one who will perform a miracle in My name, and be able soon afterward to speak evil of Me.
40 ‘For he who is not against us is for us.”

~ Take it to heart ~

Are you targeting “someone” who is a believer in the Lord Jesus?
Remember: the “someone”
who is a believer and is not against the Lord Jesus
is your brother or your sister.
