Child-likeness – Sacrificial Obedience to Jesus
Silly, selfish, self-serving arguments reveal the heart and motives of a person.
Jesus intervened in such an argument amongst His 12 disciples. They were arguing about which one of them was the greatest!
Luke 9:46
NASB Luke 9:47 “But Jesus knowing what they were thinking in their heart…”
Jesus knows your motives, your hidden agendas! He sees the real motives which drive our selfish desires!
NASB Luke 9:47 “took a child and stood him by His side,”
Jesus brought an unnamed child to make His point. Are you an unnamed person… working behind the scenes in the name of Jesus? Jesus sees your heart motives!
NASB Luke 9:48 “… and said to them, ‘Whoever receives this child in My name receives Me and whoever receives Me receives Him who sent Me… ”
Receiving a child in the name of Jesus is the same as receiving our Lord Jesus, Himself and not only Him; but, also the One who sent Him
NASB Luke 9:48 “ … for the one who is least among all of you, this is the one who is great.’”
Serving the Lord Jesus, quietly, faithfully, with child-likeness – this is the person Jesus sees as great.
~ Take it to heart ~
God knows your heart.
God does not value your selfish ambitions;
God is pleased with your sacrificial obedience to Him.
