The Living Bread
Jesus taught in a synagogue in Capernaum, the base for His Galilean ministry. John 6:59
He was talking to those Jews in attendance in that synagogue and declared, “I am the bread of life. Your fathers ate the manna in the wilderness and they died.” John 6:48-49
Jesus then declared Himself as coming down from heaven “… so that one may eat of it and not die.” John 6:50
Jesus continued His discourse, “I am the living bread that came down out of heaven; if anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever; and the bread also which I will give for the life of the world is My flesh.” John 6:51
When we take Communion… we are remembering what Christ did for us… on a cross and in His resurrection from the grave.
When we Take Communion:
Faith in Jesus alone as our Savior.
True repentance in confessing our sins, then God is faithful to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9
Joy of forgiveness.
Restored relationship with our Savior. When you next take Communion, remember what Christ did for you… as you partake of the bread, you are partaking of His body – by faith in what He did for you.
Communion is important. It is significant. It is a reminder – Christ came down from heaven so you can live forever in heaven through faith in Him.
~ Take it to heart ~
Do not take Communion lightly, or as a duty, or as if it is of little importance, or as a religious exercise…
Take Communion with thankfulness for the forgiveness of your sins, appreciation and admiration of the Savior Who gave His life for you.
Christ Jesus is still the Living Bread
