(NASB) James 5:16b-18 “… The effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much.
17 Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the earth for three years and six months.
18 Then he prayed again, and the sky poured rain and the earth produced its fruit.”

Elijah was faithful to pray God’s way for God’s will to be done.

First, the LORD God told Elijah to pray for it not to rain for three years and six months.  1 Kings 17:1

Secondly, the LORD God told Elijah to pray for rain to end the three and a half year drought.  1 Kings 18:1

The effective prayer of a righteous person does accomplish much.  Why?  Because their prayer is in obedience to God’s word!
