As a follower of Christ, have you ever been pointedly accused, put down publicly and/or treated as a second class citizen?  Troubled people cause trouble.

Elijah was pointedly accused by King Ahab of Israel as being the “troubler of Israel.”  1 Kings 18:17

Elijah’s response to the accusation?  He went right to the heart of the problem.
(NASB) 1 Kings 18:18 “He said, ‘I have not troubled Israel, but you and your father’s house have, because you have forsaken the commandments of the LORD and you have followed the Baals.’”

Elijah pointed to God, the living God and His commandments.

What commandments had Ahab broken?
(NASB) Exodus 20:3 “You shall have no other gods before Me.”
Ahab worshiped other gods and led his country to do the same.

What does the LORD God say about idols?
(NASB) Exodus 20:4-6 “You shall not make for yourself an idol, or any likeness of what is in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the water under the earth.
5 ‘You shall not worship them or serve them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children, on the third and the fourth generations of those who hate Me,
6 but showing lovingkindness to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments.”
The Baals and the Asherah were gods made with people’s hands and then worshiped as if they could hear, think and speak.

Elijah was God’s man obedient to God’s timing to confront Ahab.
It is God who brings judgment on those who do not worship Him alone.

~ Take it to heart ~

Are you one who accuses others, troubles others?  It is not impossible to change!

It is God who forgives all who turn to Him in repentance, seeking His forgiveness.

He will hear you,

He will respond to you.

He will forgive you!

Because He loves you!

“The LORD is gracious and merciful;
Slow to anger and great in lovingkindness.
9 the LORD is good to all,
And His mercies are over all His works.”
(NASB) Psalm 145:8-9
