As followers of Christ shouldn’t we be available to our God?

Can you honestly pray the following prayer?

‘Wherever I live, whatever I do for a living, help me to be available to You, my God, for Your purposes.’

Joppa: home of Tabitha (Dorcas)
Joppa is a seaport town on the Mediterranean Sea very close to present day Tel Aviv, Israel.

A disciple, a follower of Christ died, whose name was Tabitha.  Her reputation was one of kindness and charity, taking care of others and their needs.

Peter, an apostle of the risen Lord Jesus, was staying in another town not far from Joppa.  Believers knew where he was and sent for him to come.

Peter arrived at the dead woman’s home.  She had not yet been prepared for burial.  Many women were there, weeping.  They showed Peter the products which Tabitha (Dorcas) made.

Peter was the in the same room with the dead body and asked everyone to leave.  Peter knelt and prayed.  Then he said, “Tabitha. Arise.”  Her eyes opened, she saw Peter and sat up.  Peter took her by the hand and raised her to a standing position.  He called her friends and relatives to come into the room and he presented her alive.   Acts 9:36-41

Because of God’s power to raise Tabitha to physical life, Peter was used by God in this miraculous resurrection.  This was told all over the city of Joppa.  Many became believers in the Lord Jesus.  Acts 9:42

~ Take it to heart ~

Followers of Christ – let us also be available to God – going where He calls us.

Then prayerfully tell others of God’s life-giving words and the power of His actions.

‘Wherever I live, whatever I do for a living, help me to be available to You, my God, for Your purposes.  Amen.’
