Faith, Hope, Love, These Three, but the Greatest of These is Love.

Consider faith, hope and love together.  These three…

Our faith in God.

Our hope in our salvation through Christ’s sacrifice.

Our love overflows out of the abundance of the Holy Spirit’s work in our life.

“Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. This is what the ancients were commended for. By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible.”
(NIV) Hebrews 11:1-2

Confidence in what we hope for.  We hope for eternity in heaven.  We hope for eternity with our Savior.  Our faith gives us hope.

But what about love?  Where does that fit with faith and hope?

Faith
I Corinthians 13:1-3  “If I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or clanging cymbal.  If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing.  If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing.”

Hope
I Corinthians 13:8-10  “Love never fails.  But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.  For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when perfection comes, the imperfect disappears.”

These three…

~ Take it to heart ~

Watch and see what faith can do.
But it can do nothing without love.

Wait with hopeful anticipation.
Wait for the promise of tomorrow in heaven for eternity.
But hope is not fully realized until we hope in the One who loves us without conditions.

Love…it never fails.
