What is your motive when you give to a good cause?  Is it for your name to be recognized?  If so, perhaps you have become greedy; greedy for recognition.

It is interesting that Moses and the sons of Israel were out in the desert and they had material possessions they brought from Egypt.  Under God’s direction, those items were used to construct a sanctuary.  Materials were needed, and the people were asked to give toward this tabernacle.  They did so, with abundance.  They were generous!  And their names are not mentioned.  Exodus 36:1-4

Moses and the people involved with the building of the tabernacle and all its furnishings asked for the items needed.  Every morning people brought more to Moses.  Then the day came when those in charge of the construction of the sanctuary told Moses, we do not need anything more.  We have enough.  Exodus 36:5-7

When was the last time you were asked to give for a good cause… and you did.  And many others did.  And your name was not mentioned because of your donation.  Did you give from a motive of being generous or did you have another goal in mind?

~ Take it to heart ~

Generosity is a wonderful attribute when it is done with the right motive.
