Give from your heart for God’s glory
There are several ways to build a church building. One way is to incur debt. That is the quickest way and it is also a type of enslavement… to meet the debt every month.
Another way is to raise all the needed money, then break ground for the building… that is not the quickest way; but it is the way of freedom for a church.
The LORD God had the sons of Israel collect all the supplies, then build the tabernacle. How did the people respond?
(NASB) Exodus 35:21 “Everyone whose heart stirred him and everyone whose spirit moved him came and brought the LORD’S contribution for the work of the tent of meeting (tabernacle) and for all its service and for the holy garments.”
Men and women responded. Exodus 35:22-28
To give this freewill offering meant to give sacrificially, to give up something that might have been valuable to them. The LORD God told Moses exactly what was needed to build the tabernacle and all its furnishings and the garments for the serving priests.
Exodus 35:1-35This freewill offering was brought to the LORD. It was not brought to Moses, or to Aaron the priest… it was brought to the LORD. Exodus 35:29
Whenever we give a freewill offering, beyond our regular tithes and offerings… do we give it to our church? Or do we bring it to the LORD?
Also, do we give from our hearts, freely and with joy? Or do we do give our regular offerings and tithes, as well as freewill offerings, as a duty performed begrudgingly? ‘If I have to give, I guess I will give this much.’
Give with a joy-filled heart.
Give from your heart for God’s glory!
~ Take it to heart ~
(NASB) 2 Corinthians 9:6-7 “Now this I say, he who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully.
7 Each one must do just as he has purposed in his heart, not grudgingly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.”
