How do you keep your head above water?  In your marriage, your job, your career, your friendships?
Perhaps the question should be, ‘To whom are you hanging your hope on in your circumstances’?

Readers of this devotional … should we ever put our hope in anyone?  Remember we are people… we are fallible, we are likely to “mess up”.

God, the living God of the Bible, is infallible… He never “messes up”!

God is faithful toward us.  His word is 100% trustworthy.

Faithfulness is a word which sounds wonderful… don’t you wish that everyone were faithful in keeping their word to you?

People cannot always keep their promises.  Circumstances change, unexpected situations happen which make it impossible to keep some promises.

Children should be guided by thoughtful parents to understand there are disappointments in life… and promises are sometimes not possible to keep.  We can be faithful to help our children grow in their confidence in God, even when disappointed.

When you are up a creek with no paddle, hold onto your faith in God.  He is faithful to you… even when you have no paddle and cannot see the shore!
(NASB) Hebrews 10:33 “Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.”

God’s faithfulness…

To Abraham Genesis 12:7; 17:8

To Isaac Genesis 26:3

To Jacob Genesis 35:12

To Moses Exodus 3:7-8; Exodus 33:1-3

In each case, God made the same promise: He promised the land of Canaan to these men and ultimately to the sons of Israel.

Hundreds of years before there was a nation of Israel, God promised one man, Abraham, that he would become a great nation.  God would give him and his descendants the land Abraham was living in… Canaan.

Impossible as this must have sounded, Abraham believed God’s word to him.  He was sure of God’s faithfulness in keeping His word.  Genesis 15:6

~ Take it to heart ~

We can also believe God’s word to us ~ why?  Because He is faithful to His word.

“Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.”  (NASB) Hebrews 10:33
