God’s Plans vs. Mine
Moses’ mother acted out of love when her son was born and hid him for three months. Then, when, out of fear and desperation, she gave up her son to God’s will, she laid him in a basket and sent her daughter to watch over him to see what would become of him (Exodus 2). Little did she know that her act of love would save the Israelites from bondage.
Moses grew up nursing at his mother’s breast and was raised in the Pharaoh’s palace. He knew what it was like to be rich and have all his needs and wants met by those who served him. He also knew his people, the Hebrews, and saw their bondage day after day. One day, he killed an Egyptian who was beating a Hebrew slave and hid him in the sand. Exodus 2:11-14
Most likely, Moses was reacting on impulse in a tough situation. No planning went into his actions. The result was not good. The Pharaoh tried to kill him, and Moses had to run to save his life.
Have you ever acted out on impulse? What was the outcome?
Have you ever considered God’s plans before acting out on impulse?
Have you ever considered that God has a plan for your life?
Isaiah 55:9-11 (NIV) ”As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth. It will not return to me empty, but it will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.”
Take it to Heart
It’s not always easy to submit to God’s plans. Sometimes I think mine are better in the moment. However, God’s plans for us are specifically perfect for each one of us.
Will you let Him show you His plan for you?
The outcome is always perfect.
