Sunlight, electric light, candlelight, lights which are generated by batteries… lights of the night sky.  Light is important in many ways and God used a lampstand in His tabernacle… light is also important to God, for God is Light.

First the LORD God’s purpose was to show His people His Messiah.  One way He did this was through “pictures” through examples of His tabernacle and its furnishings.

Simple “pictures” for profound truths of God.

The Lampstand – a “picture” of Messiah

God gave a pattern for the lampstand which would stand in the holy place of the tabernacle.

It would be made of pure gold, hammered work, seven lamps would be fashioned at the end of six branches, three on each side of the seventh main branch.  All of the utensils for use with the lampstand would be made of gold also.  Exodus 25:31-40

The oil would be made from olives and the lamp was to be kept burning continually, attended by a priest.  Exodus 27:20-21

REMEMBER: Jesus said, “I am the Light of the world.”  John 8:12

He is the Light of life, He is the Light of the world.  His light will never go out, it is continuous. This was seen from the “picture” God gave in the tabernacle, the lampstand was to be maintained morning and evening.

(NASB) John 1:4-5 “In Him was life, and the life was the Light of men.
5 The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.”

Even when your culture, your country, and your world is rocked by circumstances not of your making… Jesus is still the Light of the world.  He is still the Light which we need.

Even though many people do not understand or comprehend their need of Jesus, it is true.

REMEMBER: all followers of Christ have received Him into their lives, their hearts.  He gave you and me the right to become a child of God.  Incredible isn’t it?!  We are born of God Himself when we receive Jesus as our Savior.  This is the Light, the Lord Jesus Christ, who gives us continuous light for each step in our day.  John 1:12-13
