God’s mercy is God’s compassion at work – – – for you!

The LORD God gave Moses instructions, the pattern for the ark of the covenant.  On top of the ark would be the mercy seat.  Moses was given a detailed pattern for the mercy seat in Exodus 25:17-22.

The dimensions were given and a description of what it would look like.  All in gold.  Two cherubim would face each other from each end of the mercy seat, their wings spread upward and their faces toward the mercy seat.

Even the gold cherubim were to be in an attitude of worship.

What was the purpose of the mercy seat?
(NASB) Exodus 25:22 “There I will meet with you; and from the mercy seat, from between the two cherubim which are upon the ark of the testimony, I will speak to you about all that I will give you in commandment for the sons of Israel.”

The purpose of the mercy seat was for God to meet with Moses, to talk to Moses. The same is true today, the LORD God desires to meet with you and me, at His mercy seat.

God, the holy God of the Bible, is sovereign.  His mercy, alone, is worthy of honor and worship.

You and I are not to take worshiping the LORD God Almighty lightly!
  He calls you and me to worship Him on His terms!
God’s compassion on you and me is His mercy extended to us.

To worship the LORD our God is to know that it is only by His provision of His mercy, His compassion, His grace, His benevolence and His favor that we can truly worship Him!

~ Take it to heart ~

“The LORD’S lovingkindnesses indeed never cease,
For His compassions never fail.
23 They are new every morning;
Great is Your faithfulness.”
(NASB) Lamentations 3:22-23
