What is the book of the covenant?
For the followers of Christ Jesus, it is the Holy Bible.  For those who are Jewish, the book of the covenant is the Torah.

In the days of Moses, while the people were at Mt. Sinai in the wilderness, Moses honored God by his obedience.

God gave Moses His words, and Moses told the vast multitude of people.  Then they said they would do all that God said. Moses wrote down God’s words.  Then he built an altar and sacrificed animals on it.  He took some of the blood of the sacrifice and sprinkled the altar.  Then Moses read from the book of the covenant.  The people again said they would obey God’s words.  Moses sprinkled some of the blood on the people in a solemn ceremony.  Ex 24:1-8

Christ Jesus (Messiah) spoke of His blood being the blood of the covenant!
(NASB) Matthew 26:26-28 “While they were eating, Jesus took some bread, and after a blessing, He broke it and gave it to the disciples, and said, ‘Take, eat; this is My body.’
27 And when He had taken a cup and given thanks, He gave it to them, saying, ‘Drink from it, all of you;
28 for this is My blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for forgiveness of sins.”

Jesus, the sacrificial Lamb, gave His life for you and me.  It is His blood which was poured out for the forgiveness of our sins.

Whenever followers of Christ take part in holy communion… we remember Christ is the sacrificial Lamb.  It is His body which was given for us.  His blood is the blood of the covenant, the promise of God for us!

Listen and listen well – to the history of the blood of the covenant
(NASB) Hebrews 9:18-22 “Therefore even the first covenant was not inaugurated without blood.
19 For when every commandment had been spoken by Moses to all the people according to the Law, he took the blood of the calves and the goats, with water and scarlet wool and hyssop, and sprinkled both the book itself and all the people,
20 saying, ‘THIS IS THE BLOOD OF THE COVENANT WHICH GOD COMMANDED YOU.’
21 And in the same way he sprinkled both the tabernacle and all the vessels of the ministry with the blood.
22 And according to the Law, one may almost say, all things are cleansed with blood, and without shedding of blood there is no forgiveness.”

~ Take it to heart ~

Follower of Christ, you are forgiven because of your faith in the living Lord Jesus Christ’s sacrifice and His shed blood.

You were sprinkled with the very blood of Christ when you became a follower of Christ.

The book of the covenant was written for all who receive Christ Jesus as their Savior.
