Judges have great responsibilities.  They are to be just (impartial toward anyone and all), righteous, and fair.  They are never to take a bribe or do any injustice.

Are you a judge in your village, town, city, state, or nation?  You have great and grave responsibilities.

Judges are held to a high standard by the Judge of all the earth.  Yet, the Holy God’s standards for judging are attainable.

In Exodus 22:1-20, God gives practical ways to settle and resolve disputes.

Listen and obey with your heart and mind focused on the Judge of all the earth.
(NASB) Deuteronomy 10:17-20 “For the LORD your God is the God of gods and the Lord of lords, the great, the mighty, and the awesome God who does not show partiality nor take a bribe.
18 ‘He executes justice for the orphan and the widow, and shows His love for the alien by giving him food and clothing.
19 So show your love for the alien, for you were aliens in the land of Egypt.
20 ‘You shall fear the LORD your God; you shall serve Him and cling to Him, and you shall swear by His name.”

Listen, again, to what God says about being a judge.
(NASB) Leviticus 19:15 “You shall do no injustice in judgment; you shall not be partial to the poor nor defer to the great, but you are to judge your neighbor fairly.”

Judges are not to show partiality just because someone is poor or to make their judgment in favor of someone in high position or power.  Either could be innocent.  Either could be guilty.

Be a Just, Impartial Judge

~ Take it to heart ~

Pray for godly judges to judge court cases.
Pray for judges to be impartial and just to resolve disputes.

“Let the sea roar and all it contains,
The world and those who dwell in it.
8 Let the rivers clap their hands,
Let the mountains sing together for joy
9 Before the LORD, for He is coming to judge the earth;
He will judge the world with righteousness
And the peoples with equity.”
(NASB) Psalm 98:7-9
