(NASB) Psalm 37:5 “Commit your way to the LORD,
Trust also in Him, and He will do it.”

When I make a commitment to the LORD, I need to put His plans into action in my life – active faith is required.  Is this a sometimes commitment?  No, it is not.
My wholehearted commitment is to the LORD and to my spouse if I am married.

Causes, political and social; they all change – God does not.  Remember to keep your priorities in proper order and balance.
Our decisions must be based on God and His unchanging word.

Did you know that God’s word is the same in Genesis (the first book of the Bible) through to the end of Revelation (the last book of the Bible)?

His word is unchanging; therefore, I can make a commitment to Him with confidence.

There is a commandment of God which illustrates making a whole-hearted, lifetime commitment to Him as our Master and our God.

In the book of Exodus, Moses was used by God to communicate His words and the meaning to everyone.

If a Hebrew man was a slave to another Hebrew, God gave him some protections and a way out of his slavery.
Seven years were the limits God set for a man to be a slave.  If he was a married man when he became a slave, then his wife would be able to leave with him after seven years of slavery.

If the man was unmarried when he became a slave and married while being a slave and they had children, all belonged to the master, the slave-owner.
After seven years, if the man did not want his wife or children, he could walk away a free man.

But, if after seven years, he loved his wife and children and his master was good to him, he could remain a slave to his master for life.
The master made his mark in the man’s ear with an awl (pierced the man’s ear with an awl).  The man was a slave for life.  Exodus 21:2-6

When anyone becomes a follower of Jesus – His mark is made on each one of us and we are committed to Him for our lifetime and into eternity.  Becoming a follower of Christ includes eternity!  Rejoice with me – what great Good News!

~ Take it to heart ~

We are to serve those in authority over us as if we are serving the Lord Jesus Christ.  Ephesians 6:5

We are to serve others…
“… as slaves of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart.”
