Setting Boundaries
The LORD God does not set boundaries “just because He can.”
His boundaries protect and provide for the needs of His people. His boundaries are generous and they are to be taken seriously.
But just because He gives us lots of room within His boundaries does not mean He will stretch those boundaries when tested.
In fact, the LORD warns it is dangerous for anyone to step outside His established boundaries. The LORD’s words are to be obeyed… period.
We are not to be like willful children who test the boundaries of their parents or teachers. God says what He means and means what He says.
Do you, or are you, living outside God’s boundaries? His boundaries are not guide lines. They are established and firm.
This is another reason to study God’s word – to learn what His boundaries are. We are to stay within His boundaries which He has established for our good.
The sons of Israel came to the mountain of God in the Sinai peninsula. There God established the boundaries at the foot of that mountain. They were not to cross or even touch His boundaries. Tough love does that.
When you establish boundaries and those boundaries are touched or ignored, what do you do?
Do you punish the person for their good? Do you enforce those generous boundaries? God enforces His boundaries.
The LORD God told Moses:
(NASB) Exodus 19:12 “You shall set bounds for the people all around (the mountain), saying, ‘Beware that you do not go up on the mountain or touch the border of it; whoever touches the mountain shall surely be put to death.”No excuses, no reasons, no rationalizations will be accepted by God for behavior which is outside His boundaries.
When we go outside His boundaries, death is the result. When we ignore or refuse to believe His invitation to receive Jesus as Savior and Lord of our lives, we will experience death, spending eternity away from His presence. We will experience hell.
~ Take it to heart ~
(NASB) Acts 4:12 “And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved.”
God has set His boundaries.
