“in everything”
How do you react in difficult and unexpected circumstances? You have no control over the circumstances and yet you must deal with the situation.
Do you argue and quarrel with people which also have no power to change the circumstances?
Are you testing the living God with a grumbling and quarrelsome attitude?
The sons of Israel were grumbling and complaining to Moses because they had been traveling on foot in the wilderness and they needed water to drink. They expected Moses to produce the water. They grumbled because Moses was the one who led them out of slavery in Egypt… at least there they had food and all the water they needed.
How did Moses react? He cried out to the LORD in prayer. “What shall I do to this people? They are about to stone me.” Exodus 17:4
The LORD had a solution.
(NASB) Exodus 17:5-6 “Then the LORD said to Moses, ‘Pass before the people and take with you some of the elders of Israel; and take in your hand your staff with which you struck the Nile, and go.
6 ‘Behold, I will stand before you there on the rock at Horeb; and you shall strike the rock, and water will come out of it, that the people may drink.’ And Moses did so in the sight of the elders of Israel.”The people were anxious and worried and quarrelsome. True, water was absolutely needed. However, complaining and quarreling were not needed.
When you are confronted with an impossible situation, how do you react? Do you add chaos and help create more problems?
OR do you seek God first? Do you turn to Him and ask Him for help?
(NASB) Philippians 4:19 “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.”
