You have heard it said… seeing is believing.

Moses was used by God to deliver the sons of Israel out of slavery in Egypt.
The LORD’s great power was seeable, experienced, and therefore believed by the sons of Israel.

They saw the ten plagues; they experienced God’s deliverance when they set out from Egypt.  They saw the Egyptian army drowned in the Red Sea by God’s power.  They could believe God because of their personal experiences and what they witnessed.

(NASB) Exodus 14:31 “When Israel saw the great power which the LORD had used against the Egyptians, the people feared the LORD, and they believed in the LORD and in His servant Moses.”

In the days of Moses
The LORD led the people out from Egyptian slavery through His servant Moses.

Exodus 13:17-22
The LORD miraculously protected about 2 million people by a cloud and the darkness of night so the Egyptian army could not find them.  Exodus 14:19-20
The LORD God’s great power parted the Red Sea by a strong wind over many hours.  The people of Israel passed over to the other side on dry ground.  Exodus 14:21-22, 29
The LORD’s great power of judgment was against Pharaoh and his army of over 600 chariots.  Exodus 14:23-28
The sons of Israel saw the dead bodies of the Egyptians on the sea shore.  Exodus 14:30

In the days of Peter – about 1500 years later
(NIV) 1 Peter 1:3-5 “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ!  In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade – kept in heaven for you, 5who through faith are shielded by God’s power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time.”

(NASB) 1 Peter 1:8-9 “and though you have not seen Him, you love Him, and though you do not see Him now, but believe in Him you greatly rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory,     9 obtaining as the outcome of your faith the salvation of your souls.”
