The LORD was preparing the Hebrew slaves to leave Egypt… in the middle of the night… and they were to be ready… they were to eat the roasted sacrificial lamb, bread without yeast and bitter herbs.  They were to be dressed and their sandals on their feet and their staff in their hand.

(NASB) Exodus 12:11 “Now you shall eat it (the roasted sacrificial lamb) in this manner: with your loins girded, your sandals on your feet, and your staff in your hand; and you shall eat it in haste–it is the LORD’S PASSOVER.”

When the LORD says ‘to wait,’ that is what we are to do… wait!
When the LORD says to prepare, be ready to leave… that is what we are to do!

The LORD God told them why they were to be prepared:
(NASB) Exodus 12:12 “‘For I will go through the land of Egypt on that night, and will strike down all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgments – I am the LORD.’”

To be prepared and ready what are some things I must do?

Know God and His word!

Let go of the unimportant things, the “stuff” in my life!

Let go of my timing, my words, my motives, my work!

Be prepared for God’s timing, God’s words, God’s motives, God’s work!

Be ready to step out of my comfort zone into a life of adventure with God!
