Darkness vs. Light
Have you ever experienced the total absence of light? Certain caves and mines which go deep into the earth have no light except the artificial light of lanterns or electricity. When lights are turned off in such a place, you are unable to see your hand before your face. It is impossible. Darkness can be claustrophobic.
One of the plagues in Egypt was – “darkness which may be felt.” Exodus 10:21
This darkness did not last three minutes, it lasted three days! Light was only in the houses of God’s people in the land of Goshen. In all the rest of Egypt, they did not leave their homes as long as the darkness lasted.
That kind of darkness would be scary, wouldn’t it? It would cause fear and great anxiety even hysteria. Only the living God could produce that kind of darkness; darkness which could be felt.
Today, there is darkness in the lives of people. Those without faith in the Lord Jesus Christ are walking around in darkness. For all followers of Christ, we have the Light of life available to us! Look to the Lord for answers to your problems. Ask for His light to give you understanding as you trust Him in the dark times of your life.
“Listen” to the promise and the real hope we have as people who are saved from such darkness.
(NASB) John 8:12 “Then Jesus spoke to them, saying, ‘I am the Light of the world; he who follows Me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the Light of life.’”
~ Take it to heart ~
You can become a follower of Christ and have the certainty of His protection for all eternity. Does this mean we are protected from all harm here on earth? No, but we can know that He is with us every step of the way. We do not walk in darkness; we walk in the newness of life by faith in the Lord Jesus Christ as our Savior.
“The LORD is my light and my salvation;
Whom shall I fear?
The LORD is the defense of my life;
Whom shall I dread?”
(NASB) Psalm 27:1
