People often over-promise and under-deliver.  Have you found this to be true?  Are you like this also?  You want to please people… so you promise on the spur of the moment without thinking if you can actually keep that promise.

Pharaoh did just that!  He promised to let the sons of Israel go worship their God.

God always keeps His promises.  You can depend on Him and His word to you in the Holy Bible.

God warns us today also!  Listen to Him as you read His words!

God warned Pharaoh to protect the animals and people outside because heavy hail was coming.  Some people listened to the warning and brought their animals and servants inside.  Other people ignored the warning and as a result people and animals died.
Exodus 9:18-21

God then commanded Moses to stretch out his staff toward the sky, and what happened?  Heavy hail, hard rain, flashes of lightning and loud thunder happened.  A severe storm occurred throughout the land of Egypt.  Plants struck down, trees shattered and men and animals outside died.

It did not hail or storm in the land of Goshen where the sons of Israel lived. Exodus 9:22-26

God is faithful to come to you in your circumstances!

Respond to Him by obeying His words!

Pharaoh sent for Moses and said, “I have sinned this time; the LORD is the righteous one, and I and my people are the wicked ones.  Make supplication to the LORD, for there has been enough of God’s thunder and hail; and I will let you go, and you shall stay no longer.”

Moses left Pharaoh’s presence, went outside the city, spread out his hands to the LORD and the storm stopped.  No more hail, no more rain, no more thunder and lightning.  Exodus 9:27-33

What did Pharaoh do?  Did he rejoice and worship the living God?  No, he did not.
He took back his word; he did not keep his promise to let the sons of Israel go to worship God.  Exodus 9:34-35

~ Take it to heart ~

God’s word is truth!

God’s commandments and promises are forever and ever!

They are eternal!

“All your words are true;
all your righteous laws are eternal.”
(NIV) Psalm 119:160
