Today, if you hear God’s voice…
The LORD is at work in lives around the world, giving His warnings and His promises.
Moses and Aaron were called by God to go to Pharaoh, repeatedly. Pharaoh hardened his heart, he did not listen. Even after disasters came on him and his people, he continued to harden his heart against the LORD.
Do you know people like this? They are warned by God, but they harden their heart and will not listen.
Perhaps you were like this, or are like this today. The LORD wants you to listen to Him and to respond to Him. He wants me and you to say “yes” to His invitation.
Think about what the LORD did in Egypt in the days of Pharaoh and Moses.
The LORD said… Exodus 9:1-2
The hand of the LORD… Exodus 9:3
But the LORD made a distinction between the Egyptians and the Hebrews who lived in the land of Goshen… what God caused to happen to Egypt did not happen to the Hebrew slaves. Exodus 9:4
The LORD set a definite time for the next plague to come.
Exodus 9:5
The next day the plague happened… all the livestock in Egypt died. Exodus 9:6
Pharaoh checked out the land of Goshen where none of the livestock died… only the Egyptian livestock died. Exodus 9:7
Then… then, God hardened Pharaoh’s heart.
Sad, sad words… Pharaoh hardened his heart for days and weeks against the living God. Then the day came when the LORD God hardened Pharaoh’s heart. Sad, sad words.
~ Take it to heart ~
Reading God’s word – the Holy Bible – is His voice to you. When you read “quotes” in this devotional, they are from God to you. It is His voice you are “hearing” as you read His words.
Are you listening? How are you responding to the living God?
“… Today, if you would hear His voice,
Do not harden your hearts…”
(NASB) Psalm 95:7-8
