Deceptions are not God’s Truth.
(NASB) Ephesians 5:6 “Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience.”
We are warned! Don’t be fooled by words that mean nothing to the speaker. The one doing the deceiving is doing it on purpose. They want something from you… just like Pharaoh wanted something from God.
Pharaoh wanted the plague of insects removed from his house, from his servants and their houses. In fact, the insects invaded all of Egypt… except the land of Goshen. Goshen was the home of the Hebrew slaves, God’s chosen people. They were not inundated with insects. Exodus 8:20-32
Moses warned Pharaoh to not “deal deceitfully again in not letting” the people of God go worship. He asked the LORD to remove the insects the next morning and the LORD did.
Pharaoh revealed his deceitfulness; he did not let the people go worship because the nuisance of the insects was gone.
Followers of Christ, we are not to be deceived. We need godly wisdom to discern what is deceitful from what is truth. We are not to be easily fooled and led astray from trusting God.
False words and promises are empty, with no meaning behind them.
~ Take it to heart ~
Jesus told His followers:
(NASB) Matthew 10:16 “Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves; so be shrewd as serpents and innocent as doves.”We are to be aware, using wisdom from God as we interact with people. We are to be harmless, without hidden motives to do evil. We are not to use false words.
We are not deceiving people when we speak God’s truths.
God’s truth leads us to be honest with others.
