Frogs…Frogs…Frogs
Frogs can be pleasant to listen to after the sun goes down. They can join the evening orchestra of insect sounds.
However, if those frogs invaded my house, my kitchen, my bedroom… I would not enjoy their voices or their presence. In fact, I would find it repulsive, ugh!
Frogs, frogs and more frogs inundated the land of Egypt in the days of Moses. What were the circumstances? Why did it happen? Exodus 8:1-15 tells us all about it.
First – the LORD told Moses to go to Pharaoh and say, “Let My people go, that they may serve Me. But if you refuse to let them go, behold, I will smite your whole territory with frogs. The Nile will swarm with frogs, which will come up and go into your house and into your bedroom and on your bed, and into the houses of your servants and on your people, and into your ovens and into your kneading bowls.”
Second – the LORD told Moses to have Aaron stretch out his staff over the rivers, streams, pools of Egypt and the frogs would come up on the land.
Third – Aaron did so and the frogs came hopping into the houses, the kitchens, the bedrooms of all who lived in Egypt.
Fourth – Egypt’s magicians copied what they saw with their magic arts.
Fifth – Pharaoh called for Moses and Aaron – “Entreat the LORD that He remove the frogs from me and my people…”
Sixth – Moses asked Pharaoh to choose the timing so Pharaoh would “know that there is no one like the LORD our God.” Tomorrow was the answer.
Seventh – Moses cried out to the LORD and the LORD “did according to the word of Moses, and the frogs died.” The frogs were piled in heaps, “and the land became foul.”
Eighth – Pharaoh saw there was relief from the frogs, so he hardened his heart and did not listen.
The LORD was not surprised. In fact, He had told Moses this would happen.
The LORD uses many different ways to get our attention. What frogs have invaded your life? How have you responded?
When your circumstances become better and the “frogs” are removed, how have you responded? Like Pharaoh? Did you turn away from the LORD?
Your focus and mine should always be on the LORD. No matter what “frogs” invade our lives.
Moses and Aaron kept their eyes on the LORD, even when their beds were invaded by frogs!
Nothing is said in Scripture about Moses and Aaron escaping the plague of frogs.
~ Take it to heart ~
What should we do, even when we are invaded by “frogs?”
Keep our focus on the LORD, not on the “frogs.” Keep our focus on God’s word…pray using God’s word with your name inserted in what you read. Blessing upon blessing will follow.
