What do you value?  “Stuff”? – things? – your job? – people? – your family? – yourself?
What is of greatest value to you in your life?

On my travels this summer, I stayed in a suite of rooms called “The Pearl.”
This led me to think about Jesus who gave us a parable about the Pearl of Great Value.

(ESV) Matthew 13:45-46 “Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant in search of fine pearls, 46 who, on finding one pearl of great value, went and sold all that he had and bought it.”

The merchant recognized the value of that one pearl.  He knew what it was worth.  Can you imagine selling everything, all that you have, for that one pearl of great value?

For the followers of Christ – are we willing to give up what is of lesser value for that one pearl of great value?
Are we willing to open our clutching hands on what we are holding onto, just so we can grasp that one pearl of great value?

There may be the need to get rid of our “stuff” or any number of things so we can have that one pearl of great value.

What is the pearl of great value?
Jesus said it is the kingdom of heaven.  My friend, that is where Jesus is – today!  He is the pearl of great value.
