How do you react to requests you think are unreasonable?

Pharaoh reacted with anger to Moses and Aaron’s request to let the Hebrew slaves go to worship God.  They asked to go three days journey into the wilderness… Pharaoh reacted by putting an unreasonable work load on the suffering slaves.  They were now to gather their own straw for making bricks.  But, the catch was, they were to make the same number of bricks each day as they did before.  What?!!!  How could they search for straw and make the same number of bricks?  Talk about being unreasonable!  Exodus 5:6-8

Pharaoh’s conclusion – the slaves were lazy!  Pure laziness!  He put them down for asking to go sacrifice to their God.  From my perspective as I write this, this king disdained these slaves. They were nothing to him but a labor force to be used for his purposes.  He owned them.

Pharaoh believed that the Hebrew’s were being lied to by Moses and Aaron.  And sacrifice to their God?  It was just an excuse to get out of work.

Tyrants never want to free people; especially, to worship the living God.

Many times people try to thwart faith in the living God through pressure and persecution.

In many countries, today, homes are burned down, people are run out of their villages, others are arrested and imprisoned.  In some cultures it is against the law for children to worship the one true God.

When added pressures are applied, people’s faith is tried.  But God knows, and He is glorified when people faithfully follow Jesus.

~ Take it to heart ~

Do not be surprised when pressures come because of your faith in Jesus Christ.
