Shallow Graves
Shallow graves can be quickly dug and cover over what we want to keep hidden.
Shallow graves are not the answer for our problems.
Moses was a grown man; in fact he was about forty years of age. He was a Hebrew adopted by the Egyptian princess. He grew up in the royal household and was given the finest schooling.
His people, the Hebrews, were slaves doing hard and rigorous labor for the Egyptians.
One day, he intentionally went out to his Hebrew brothers where he saw an Egyptian beating a Hebrew. Looking first one way, then another, he made sure no one was watching…then he killed the Egyptian.
He quickly dug a shallow grave in the sand and hid the body. That is how he covered his act of murder. (Exodus 2:11-12)
What actions do you try to cover up, to bury and go about the business of living?
Perhaps you have covered up your grief, or dug a shallow grave for your anger at someone. You alone know what you have buried in a shallow grave and have hidden away.
Moses did not know the LORD — yet. He did not have a personal and intimate knowledge of God.
Do you? Do you have the LORD to call upon when grief, sorrow or other things weigh you down? Or are you burying your emotions in a shallow grave?
~ Take it to heart ~
Take it to heart – Take it to the LORD in prayer.
(NASB) Psalm 18:1-3 “‘I LOVE You, O LORD, my strength.’
2 The LORD is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer,
My God, my rock, in whom I take refuge;
My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.
3 I call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised,
And I am saved from my enemies.”
