Risky Business
Risks… some are foolish and self-serving. Risks… some are worth the price.
Risky business! The Egyptian Pharaoh ordered all newborn Hebrew baby boys to be killed.
A Hebrew mother in Egypt gave birth to a son. She kept him hidden for three months after his birth. Then she put a plan into action. She could not keep him hidden any longer. She took a wicker basket, coated it with tar and pitch to make it watertight. Then she took the risk of putting her three month old in the basket and sneaking down and placing it among the reeds along the bank of the Nile River. Risky business, indeed, her son’s life and the lives of her family were at stake.
She furthered her risk by stationing her daughter a little distance away to watch the baby to see what would happen.
The courage of that mother was shown when she walked away from her infant son. Risky business involves love. She literally put her son into God’s hands.
Would the baby be killed when he was discovered?
