Godly People Live Their Faith
(NASB) Genesis 50:19-21 “But Joseph said to them, Do not be afraid, for am I in God’s place?
20 ‘As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good in order to bring about this present result, to preserve many people alive.
21 ‘So therefore, do not be afraid; I will provide for you and your little ones.’ So he comforted them and spoke kindly to them.”
What are some of the lessons we can learn from these verses?
Joseph knew the living God for himself. He was not God and he knew that right well.
There is no fear when there is a right relationship to and with the living God.
Joseph was realistic – his brothers had meant evil against him when they sold him into Egypt as a slave.
People’s intentions never thwart God’s plan or purpose.Joseph recognized God’s purpose in and through his life – with far reaching results. Many lives were saved in the middle of a severe famine.
God’s plans are far superior to our plans and purposes.Joseph comforted his brothers and urged them not to fear.
Remember: do not be afraid. God is in control and His plans and purposes will happen.Joseph spoke kindly to his humbled brothers.
Godly people are kind, no matter how they have been treated in the past.Joseph promised to protect and provide for all of his brothers and their families.
Promises are not to be given lightly. Promises made should be carried out.
