Jacob gave prophecies about his twelve sons who became the twelve tribes of Israel. Asher’s prophecy is interesting, intriguing even.

(NASB) Genesis 49:20 “As for Asher, his food shall be rich,
And he will yield royal dainties.”

The tribe of Asher became an agricultural people in the Promised Land.  They produced rich foods – “dainties fit for a king.”

This tribe was a part of the nation of Israel, yet distinct in their functioning within the nation.  This tribe was not known for valiant warriors or those called to be judges, or kings.  However, they were important in the fabric of the nation of Israel.  They provided food – food “fit for a king.”

What are considered “kingly foods?”  Foods which most people cannot get for themselves, due to price or availability, are not a problem for a king’s table.  The best of any product, are used to make various dishes to complete a kingly menu.

Followers of Christ, we are invited to the King’s table in heaven.  What will be the food?  We don’t know.  But it will be scrumptious!  It will surpass anything our imaginations can even begin to fathom.

We have “dainties fit for a king” now, to eat on a daily basis.  We can read God’s words to us, truly, “dainties fit for a king.”

What did the Lord Jesus Christ say about Himself?
(NASB) John 4:48 “I am the bread of life.”

The “bread of life” is a dainty available for anyone who receives Jesus as their Savior, their Redeemer.  The bread is Jesus Himself.

~ Take it to heart ~

  Jesus said…
(NASB) John 11:25 “… ‘I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in Me will live even if he dies,
26 and everyone who lives and believes in Me will never die.  Do you believe this?’”

Do you believe this?
If so, you have tasted the “dainties fit for a king!”
