Perhaps you have lived with certain ideas for years, and then found out, what you believed was not true.

And what was your reaction?  Stunned!  An unexpected reality!
This happened to Jacob.  He believed, his favorite beloved son, Joseph was dead.  He thought this for over twenty years.

His eleven sons returned to Canaan from Egypt with big wagons loaded with foods and their donkeys loaded down with grain. The first words out of the mouths of his sons stunned him.

(NASB) Genesis 45:26 “They told him, saying, ‘Joseph is still alive, and indeed he is ruler over all the land of Egypt.’  But he was stunned, for he did not believe them.”

Years before, these same sons had deceived him. They convinced Jacob that Joseph had died from a wild animal.  They even had “proof,” Joseph’s unusual and beautiful tunic was given to him covered in blood… not the blood of Joseph but of a goat.  Deceived!  And he believed the evidence.  The brothers never told him they sold Joseph as a slave.  They also believed Joseph had died in slavery.

Fast forward twenty plus years: the brothers were convinced by Joseph that he was their brother whom they sold as a slave many years before.  (Genesis 45:1-15)

The brothers then convinced their father that Joseph was alive and in fact was second only to Pharaoh in Egypt.  The wagons, which Joseph sent to carry his father and the families of his brothers, were an additional proof that Joseph was alive.

Perhaps you have believed that Jesus was born in a stable, lived a godly life and then died on a cross.  And that was it.

What if… Jesus is alive!  Perhaps what you have believed for years is not true!

God’s word tells us that Jesus was born, died and rose from the grave.  Alive!

Really stunning news!  The unexpected reality is great good news!  Jesus – is the risen Savior, He is the Redeemer!

Jacob’s reaction: “It is enough; my son Joseph is still alive.  I will go and see him before I die.”  (Genesis 45:28)  Jacob believed the good news that his son, Joseph was alive.

You also can believe the great good news that Jesus, the Son of God, is alive and fully trustworthy to be your Savior.

~ Take it to heart ~

Today, you may be stunned with the good news of Jesus Christ!  The following verse tells us of this unexpected reality!

(NASB) Romans 10:9-10 “that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved;
10 for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation.”
