It’s All About God…
The prisoner Joseph was sent for by the Pharaoh of Egypt. Joseph’s history of interpreting dreams became known to the greatly disturbed Pharaoh. He had two troubling dreams and wanted to know their meaning.
Joseph told the Pharaoh that he could not give him the interpretation, but God would.
Pharaoh’s dreams were told to a carefully listening Joseph. And what did Joseph reply?
(NASB) Genesis 41:25 “… ‘Pharaoh’s dreams are one and the same; God has told to Pharaoh what He is about to do.”
Joseph then told the interpretation of the two dreams:
(NASB) Genesis 41:29-30 “Behold, seven years of great abundance are coming in all the land of Egypt;
30 and after them seven years of famine will come, and all the abundance will be forgotten in the land of Egypt, and the famine will ravage the land.”Joseph then warned Pharaoh that since God gave him two dreams, it meant the matter was determined by God and God would quickly bring it about.
Joseph then gave a brief and concise solution for the coming severe famine.
Pharaoh was to find a discerning and wise man to be over Egypt. Then Pharaoh should take action and appoint overseers in charge of the land. One-fifth of the produce was to be stored during the seven years of abundance.
The food would be reserved for the seven years of famine to follow.
(Genesis 41:33-37)God’s instrument: Joseph
God’s warning: to Pharaoh through two dreams
God’s solution: store grain during the years of abundance for the years of famine
God’s protection: of Egypt and Joseph’s family in Canaan, God’s chosen people.
