To whom do you credit your success?  To your own abilities?  Or to your circumstances and perhaps to other people?

Being successful as a follower of Christ is different from the world’s view of success.  A believer in Christ can be wealthy and have a position of power.  However, God’s view of success depends on faith in His Son.

Joseph was a spoiled rotten teen-ager.  He was sold as a slave by ten of his jealous brothers.  He was taken to Egypt and bought by Potiphar, a high ranking Egyptian officer.  (Genesis 39:1)

Joseph became successful, even as a slave, in the house of his Egyptian master. (Genesis 39:2)

(NASB) Genesis 39:2 “The Lord was with Joseph, so he became a successful man.”

Think about this: Joseph had to learn a new language; he had to understand another culture and become accustomed to another life style.  He had a lot to learn!  He became teachable.  The Lord was with Joseph, is the Lord with you, in your circumstances?

Joseph’s attitude changed from being spoiled to becoming successful.  And the Lord changed him due to his faith.  What attitude of yours needs to be changed by the Lord?

Joseph “grew up” in Egypt, in very difficult circumstances.  He matured from a spoiled teen-ager into a godly man.

What circumstances is God using in your life to “grow you up?”

Joseph yielded to God and learned in God’s school room for him.

(NASB) Psalm 25:4-5
“Make me know Your ways, O Lord;
Teach me Your paths.
5 Lead me in Your truth and teach me,
For You are the God of my salvation;
For You I wait all the day.”
