The God of the Holy Bible is unlimited in the ways He reaches people.  He arranges encounters and He is not limited in how He gets our attention.  He may use a dream, a song, a sermon, a devotional or a true friend.  He may use your past or your present; God uses unlimited ways to get our focus on Him.  What is He using in your life today to get your thoughts on Him?

Jacob left the only home he knew and traveled north into his future.  He went quite a distance that first day after leaving his parents in Beersheba.  He must have been tired, the sun had set and the day was darkening.  He found a good place to spend the night, selected a stone and used it as a place for his head.  Then he lay down to sleep.  (Genesis 28:11)

Scripture never mentions he prayed to the God of his parents or that God was anywhere in his thoughts.

Is that true of you or someone you know?  Is your life “just fine” and you really never think of the living God?  Oh, God is okay for your parents or brothers and sisters – you do not need Him.  Life is good!

How does the living God of the Bible “see” anyone before they know Christ Jesus as their Savior?

(NASB) Ephesians 2:1 “AND YOU were dead in your trespasses and sins… ”

The Lord God gives an honest evaluation of anyone who is without Christ in their life.

(NASB) Ephesians 2:3 “Among them we too all formerly lived in the lusts of our flesh, indulging in the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, even as the rest.”

This is a description of Jacob, is it a description of you today?

At this point in Jacob’s life, he was still living in the lusts of his flesh.  He connived and deceived in order to get what he wanted.  God was not a part of his thought processes.

~ Take it to heart ~

Was life really “good” for Jacob without God in his life?
He thought so.
Do you think your life is “good?”
Is life really “good” without God?
