Lot offered two men his hospitality and protection.  The two men were actually angels sent from God for Lot’s rescue and God’s coming judgment.

A mob formed outside the home of Lot in Sodom.  Two strangers were inside… and the mob wanted those two men so they could have sexual relations with them.

Lot refused, he went outside and closed the door to his home and offered this mob his two virgin daughters!  The men were not interested.  The mob turned against Lot and the two angels within the house grabbed Lot and brought him inside, shutting the door.

The two angels struck the mob with blindness and they could not find the door.  Then the angels told Lot of God’s judgment on Sodom, to destroy it for their great wickedness.  They also told Lot to get his family and flee to the mountains.  Lot found his two future sons-in-law and warned them, they thought he was joking!

The night gave way to the dawning of another day, a day of judgment on Sodom and Gomorrah.  The angels wanted Lot to leave, quickly.  He dawdled!  The two angels seized the hands of Lot, his wife and two daughters and took them outside the city.  The Lord had compassion on Lot and his family.

The angels strongly urged Lot and his family to “escape” God’s coming judgment.  Lot begged to go to a near-by town. It was permitted.  (Genesis 19:1-22)

What we can learn from Lot.
When you are given a warning, how do you respond?  Lot was resistant and he was hesitant in running from God’s judgment and running to God’s safety.

Are you like Lot?  Clearly he was warned… what do you need to flee?  What do you need to do so you are safe in God’s protection?

Lot is not so different from men and women today.  God offers protection and eternal safety through faith in His Son, and people dawdle.  They hesitate; they may even react as the two future sons-in-law by not taking God’s warnings of coming judgment seriously.

~ Take it to heart ~

Something to think about – it does affect your eternity!
How will you be judged by God?  Will your sins be on yourself?  Or will your sins have already been judged by God, because Jesus took your sins as if they were His own when He died on the cross?

Are You Dawdling?

Come to Jesus – He is waiting for you to receive Him as your Savior.
Come to Jesus – He is waiting for you to walk by faith today.
