What Eve Knew
What do you know about temptation in your marriage, in your job and/or in your church?
What did Eve know?
She knew God had created her and Adam – Genesis 2:7
She knew God had made a garden for her and Adam to live in – Genesis 2:8
She knew God’s boundaries, what she could eat and what she was not to eat – Genesis 2:9, 15-17She knew the penalty for disobeying God’s words – Genesis 2:17
She did not do what is right:
She did not listen to God’s way for her.
She did not resist temptation that took her away from God.
Yet Eve was tempted by the deceiving serpent and yielded to his suggestions and innuendos. In fact she added her own words to God’s warning when she said, “You shall not eat from it or touch it, or you will die.” She lied! God said nothing about touching the tree of knowledge of good and evil. He did say, “You shall not eat from it, or you will die.” (underlining added) Genesis 3:1-5
She believed the lying, deceptive and enticing words of Satan… she disobeyed God’s words.
The Lord God is very plain about the boundaries He sets for us. He gives us generous boundaries in which to live.
God is very plain about the penalty of disobeying His word when we go outside the boundaries He sets – the penalty is death. As you consider your marriage, your job and/or your church – are you being deceived by Satan’s subtleties of separation from your spouse, your employer or your church?
Discontentment is a warning flag – it can lead to disillusionment and divorce. Divorce is a complete and radical separation from a marriage. Satan is at work in any job or even a church, to lead you away from His will for you.
What do you know God is saying from His word, the Holy Bible? Be careful not to let your feelings control your decisions. Do not listen when others are enticing you from God’s ways. Do not be deceived.
Followers of Christ – listen and respond to God’s way for you.
(NASB) Ephesians 6:20-24 “But you did not learn Christ in this way,
21 if indeed you have heard Him and have been taught in Him, just as truth is in Jesus,
22 that, in reference to your former manner of life, you lay aside the old self, which is being corrupted in accordance with the lusts of deceit,
23 and that you be renewed in the spirit of your mind,
24 and put on the new self, which in the likeness of God has been created inrighteousness and holiness of the truth.”
~ Take it to heart ~
Do what is right:
Listen to God’s way for you.
