Responsibility before the living God
(NASB) 2 Corinthians 13:5 “Test yourselves to see if you are in the faith; examine yourselves! Or do you not recognize this about yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you – unless indeed you fail the test?”
Responsibility of the followers of Christ
A TEST is an examination of what we know and it also reveals what we don’t know.Where do we begin to examine ourselves?
We begin with the question – are we followers of Christ? Have we intentionally asked Jesus to be our Savior and Lord? We are to examine ourselves in this area of faith.Perhaps you say, ‘No, I have never intentionally asked Jesus to save me, to forgive me of my sins (of actions and motives that are not pleasing to the living God).’ This moment, you can ask Jesus to be your Savior… to save you, to clean you up from the inside out – and once done it is forever done. Examine yourself before the God of the Holy Bible.
You can ask Him to forgive you and He will! You can ask Jesus to save you and He will!
(NASB) Psalm 139:23-24
“Search me, O God, and know my heart;
Try me and know my anxious thoughts;
24 And see if there be any hurtful way in me,
And lead me in the everlasting way.”
This examination of yourself is a Pass/Fail test. Either you are a follower of Christ and He is your Savior… or He is not!
We are to recognize that once we receive Christ Jesus as our Savior… our motives will be changed. We will live to please Him and not ourselves. He lives in all of His followers and we can be sure of this fact ~ forever and ever… for eternity – we are His.
(NASB) John 10:27-28 “My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me;
28 and I give eternal life to them, and they will never perish; and no one will snatch them out of My hand.”
Responsibility of Godly leaders – we are to examine ourselves before the living God. We are to keep a clean and clear conscience as we lead others.
(NASB) 1 John 1:9-10 “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar and His word is not in us.”
