How do you measure yourself?  To whom do you compare yourself?  Are you your own measuring stick?  Do you compare yourself, with yourself?

Dead-end thinking will do just that!  People who measure themselves by themselves or compare themselves with themselves will be without understanding.

We are poor tools to measure or compare ourselves to ourselves, aren’t we?

If we measure ourselves using other people – we will do one of two things:
1-we won’t think of ourselves as good enough – for there will probably be someone better than we are.
OR
2-we will think of ourselves more highly than we ought – for there will probably be someone who is not as good as we are.

In school or in business/jobs – there are effective tools to measure and compare our knowledge and progress.

Grades are measurable and sales/service numbers are comparable with competitors.

When we begin measuring and/or comparing ourselves with ourselves – we will hit a dead-end OR we will be going in circles, getting no where – fast!

(NASB) 2 Corinthians 10:12 “For we are not bold to class or compare ourselves with some of those who commend themselves; but when they measure themselves by themselves and compare themselves with themselves, they are without understanding.”

Confidence is never to be in ourselves, followers of Christ.  Our confidence is always to be in God our Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ.

God measures and compares us with His perfection.  We will never “measure up” to God Himself.

This is another reason why we need Jesus.
He measures up; He is comparable to God for He is God the Son.
Our faith is to be in Jesus – our boast is to be in the Lord.

He is all we need to measure up and be comparable with His perfection – for He is God.

~ Take it to heart ~

No more dead-end thinking or going in circles – my boast is in the Lord Jesus Christ for He is the living Lord God.

(NASB) 2 Corinthians 10:17 “But he who boasts is to boast in the Lord.”
