What is the most extravagant thing you have ever done for another?

Jesus did the most extravagant thing anyone could do for another.  He went from being Fully God to becoming Fully Man.  He did this for a time, that I might have eternal life through faith in Him.

Have you ever given up anything, even for a time, for another’s benefit?

This is what Jesus did for us!
He was rich – fully God.  He became poor – fully Man.  He opened the way for us to become spiritually rich.  This is His gift of grace to us.

This is another facet, among many, of what Jesus did for us.
He was in heaven…He became fully Man when He was conceived by the Holy Spirit in Mary (a young woman who was a virgin).  He was born in a stable – not a palace.  He was raised in the family of a carpenter – not a king.  He lived as a traveling Teacher – not as a person of privilege.  He died a criminal’s death on a cross – not the honorable death of a soldier.

Followers of Christ this is the true humility of God our Savior.
(NASB) Philippians 2:5-8 “Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus,
6 who, although He existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped,
7 but emptied Himself, taking the form of a bondservant, and being made in the likeness of men.
8 Being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.”

The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ is a gift which His followers have!

From heaven’s riches as fully God to earth’s poverty as fully Man – this is Jesus Christ’s grace to us.  He did this so we might become spiritually rich by faith in Him.

We are to receive His gift of grace – the gift of salvation through faith in Him as God our Savior.

(NASB) 2 Corinthians 8:9 “For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sake He became poor, so that you through His poverty might become rich.”

~ Take it to heart ~

Jesus – fully God, became fully Man, that we might have the riches of eternal life with Him.

Do you know Him as your Savior?
Are His riches of eternal life yours?
