Night Scene near Bethlehem
(NASB) Luke 2:8-9 “In the same region there were some shepherds staying out in the fields and keeping watch over their flock by night.
9 And an angel of the Lord suddenly stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them; and they were terribly frightened.
10 But the angel said to them, ‘Do not be afraid; for behold, I bring you good news of great joy which will be for all the people;
11 for today in the city of David there has been born for you a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.”

The shepherds were given an astounding message, and you have just read that same message!  Christ Jesus was born ~ He is Savior, Christ the Lord!  Good news indeed.  News of great joy and this message is for “all people.”

The following is a paraphrase of Luke 2:12-16
The shepherds were then told how they would know that this message was factually true.  They would find a new born baby lying in a manger of all places.  And after they were given this proof, suddenly around them in the darkness of night, a multitude of heavenly host praised God and said, “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests.”  (NIV Luke 2:14)

The angels went back into heaven and the shepherds decided to go right then into Bethlehem and check out this wondrous message from the Lord.  They hurried and found their way to Mary, Joseph and the baby lying in a manger.

Make Known Message of Christ’s Birth
(NASB) Luke 2:17-18 “When they had seen this, they made known the statement which had been told them about this Child.
18 And all who heard it wondered at the things which were told them by the shepherds.”

You have been told what happened that night so long ago.  Christmas was yesterday… the day we celebrate the birth of Christ Jesus.  Who do you need to tell that Jesus was born to be their Savior… He was born for all people!  Wondrous news indeed!

(NASB) Acts 4:12 “And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved.”
