Paraphrase of Luke 2:1-7 In the days of Caesar Augustus, the Roman world was to have a census taken.  This census occurred during the time Quirinius was governor in Syria.  Everyone had to go to their family’s hometown.  Joseph and a very pregnant Mary traveled to Bethlehem from Nazareth.  They were from the tribe of Judah, and Bethlehem was the town where they were to report for the census.

They arrived in crowded Bethlehem, and finally found a “room” in the stall of a barn.  There was no other place available.  The baby Jesus was born there, in the barn, and laid in a manger from which the cattle ate their straw.

Jesus was born in Bethlehem.  Why is this important?  Why is this amazing?  Because Micah the prophet foretold Messiah would be born in the little town of Bethlehem, hundreds of years before the event.

(NASB) Micah 5:2 “But as for you, Bethlehem Ephrathah,
Too little among the clans of Judah,
From you One will go forth for Me to be ruler in Israel… ”

Jesus’ birth fulfilled this prophecy.
Jesus was born of a virgin.
Jesus was conceived by God the Holy Spirit.
Jesus was born in Bethlehem.
Jesus was born to rule and reign in Israel.

~ Take it to heart ~

God’s plan was fulfilled to the smallest detail concerning Jesus’ birth – for me!

Since Jesus’ birth was foretold and fulfilled – I have confidence that God will fulfill all His words.  Jesus is coming to reign as King over all kings.

This Jesus is my Savior?!!!!  Hallelujah!  What a Savior have I!
