This week we are learning about the Sovereignty of God and for the last 2 days we have discovered how God is in control over the affairs of men.  We saw how he is intimately involved in both the political and personal side of our lives.  However; God is not only in control over earthly matters, He is the Lord of heaven as well.  God is sovereign over His heavenly home.

Most of us understand, or are familiar with the concept of home ownership.  As home owners, we have the ability to monitor those who enter our dwelling.  We can open the door and welcome family members into our home or lock the door preventing strangers from gaining access.  God has the right to determine who enters His home.  The heavenly door will be opened for all God’s family members but will remain closed to strangers.  So, how does one become a child of God assuring them of a future heavenly home?

There is only one way:  Believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of the living God and that His death and resurrection paid the penalty for sin; so when we believe, our sins are forgiven and we have the assurance of eternal life in heaven with God.

(NIV) John 3:16 – “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him, shall not perish but have eternal life.”

(NIV) John 14:6 – “Jesus answered, ‘I am the way and the truth and the life.  No one comes to the Father except through me.’”

(NIV) John 10:9 – “I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved.” (Jesus speaking)

(NIV) 1 John 1:7 – “… and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.”

(NIV) Acts 16:30-31 –“‘… what must I do to be saved?”’  They replied, ‘Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved… ’”

(NIV) John 1:29 – “… John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, ‘Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!’”

(NIV) Acts 4:12 – “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved.”

  Make no mistake, do not be deceived!  All roads do not lead to God!  There is only one way into heaven and that is the way the Sovereign God has declared it to be: through belief in His Son, Jesus Christ.  No amount of good works or church attendance will get you there.  No other religious system or spiritual deity can grant you entrance.  It is only belief in Jesus as your Savior and Lord that guarantees you a place in God’s eternal home.  Believe or be denied, the choice is yours!
