Paul asked followers of Christ to pray for him and those with whom he was working and traveling.  Paul knew the effectiveness of prayer, he was afflicted in many ways and he needed prayer.

(NASB) 2 Corinthians 1:11 “you also joining in helping us through your prayers, so that thanks may be given by many persons on our behalf for the favor bestowed on us through the prayers of many.”

The Need
Pray for those under pressure, who are afflicted.
Praying for others is joining them, helping them and meeting their needs.

The Expectation
My prayers help and encourage others who are under pressure.

A woman, Asia Bibi, is still in prison for her faith in the Lord Jesus.  Pray for her and her family.  Our prayers are effective, even when we don’t “see” or know the person for whom we pray.
Do I know this afflicted, imprisoned and persecuted believer in Christ?  No, I do not.  Should that stop me from praying for her?  No, it should not.

Our prayers help Asia, and others like her, because God is at work in their behalf through our prayers.

Question
Who do I know that is under pressure, afflicted, today?

My Expectation
For God to work in behalf of each person for whom I pray.
Prayer is trusting and depending on God alone to work in the lives of others.

Psalm 6
One way to pray is use Scripture and insert individual names as you pray.
Psalm 6 has been used as a prayer for Asia and others I know who are under pressure.
Beside Psalm 6, I wrote the names, the date and day I prayed for them.  Years later I will see that prayer and recognize God was at work in others lives.
A fellow worker states ‘When God uses a verse in my life, I write the date and the circumstance as a reminder of God working in my life.’

~ Take it to heart ~

The Lord God of the Holy Bible has heard my supplications for those whom I prayed.
The Lord God receives my prayers, hears and answers my prayers.  Astounding work of God.

Psalm 27:14 (NASB)
Wait for the Lord;
Be strong and let your heart take courage;
Yes, wait for the Lord.”
