When you are healthy, when life is prospering and good, don’t forget fellow believers who are hurting.  When one part of your body hurts, it affects your whole body and your thinking, doesn’t it?  In the same way, when one member of God’s family hurts, is imprisoned, and/or ill treated – remember them, pray for them.

(NASB) 1 Corinthians 12:26 “And if one member suffers, all the members suffer with it; if one member is honored, all the members rejoice with it.”

(NASB) Hebrews 13:3 “Remember the prisoners, as though in prison with them, and those who are ill-treated, since you yourselves also are in the body.”

  Today, there are people in prison because of their faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.  Pray for them.  Pray for them to have God-given strength for each day.  To serve the Lord there!  Pray for their families to be faithful in their love for the imprisoned one.

Pray the Psalms… use names of people as you pray God’s words.
(NASB) Psalm 25:1-3 “TO YOU, O Lord, I lift up my soul.
2 O my God, in You I trust,
Do not let me ashamed;
Do not let my enemies exult over me.
3 Indeed, none of those who wait for You will be ashamed;
Those who deal treacherously without cause will be ashamed.”

(NASB) Psalm 25:16-20 “Turn to me and be gracious to me,
For I am lonely and afflicted.
17 The troubles of my heart are enlarged;
Bring me out of my distresses.
18 Look upon my affliction and my trouble,
And forgive all my sins.
19 Look upon my enemies, for they are many,
And they hate me with violent hatred.
20 Guard my soul and deliver me;
Do not let me be ashamed, for I take refuge in You.”

Remember!  Have empathy!  Pray for them!

The dictionary defines empathy as “Understanding so intimate that the feelings, thoughts, and motives of one are readily comprehended by another.”
